BELOW PAR FIELDING COSTS THE GAME

A poor performance in the field let mudeford of the hook and rattle up 275 in a rain effected game at roundhills!

After winning the toss and putting the visitors in the bramshaw opening bowlers had mudeford in trouble early on taking a couple of wickets with the new ball swinging and moving off the pitch and Mike kingston 2-49 bowling a very good spell! But with the home side on top a couple of catches went to ground and mudeford made good use of there chances! In a late order barrage with the unfortunate mangle taking most of the punishment going for 97 off 11 overs taking 2 wickets!

With the rain falling during tea a revised total of 258 off 42 overs was set. Yet another new opening pairing started off ok with wall-e hitting some early blows but he was caught for 14. At the other end jammo was in defensive mode but along with tarty managed to put on nearly 100 to put bramshaw in a descent position needing 150 off 20 overs at drinks! But the bramshaw collapse was just around the corner as tarty was bowled by the slowest slower ball in the world for 50 and jammo was lbw for a patient 38! With a depleted batting line up it was left to jonny murray to try and win it but after he was out for a brutal 48 the game fell away and bramshaw ended up with 233.

A good effort with the team available and was good to see the two toms making 1st team debuts but with two away trips to portsmouth to come better will be needed if a good end to the season will be achieved!!
