Tailend calypso not enough to avoid defeat!!!

A spirited effort by the 1st was not enough to beat local rivals Calmore at loperwood on saturday.

On a warm sticky day tarty won the toss and batting first did'nt get off to the best of starts with a couple of 'helpful decisions bramshaw were quickly 2 down for not alot!. Bramshaw old boy Paul Cass bowled very tight and took the wicket of George and with the ball moving all over the place runs were hard to get. Jammo and Brian steddied things with a useful partnership before the latter was bowled for 33.

Wickets fell regularly pushing for runs in the last 10 overs with jonny and ginge falling in quick succession, jammo was bowled for a patient 28 but with only a couple of overs left Jamie Martin began his Caribbean assault with some powerful leg side hitting and finishing on 35 n/o to boost the total to 194.

The bowling got off to a good start with a couple of early wickets and it looked promising, but as so often in the past dropped catches made the task more difficult and Cassy was the lucky one to benefit this time with george shelling him at cover. He went on to bat well and make 87 and with Rose batted calmore to victory and an early finish!

An improved display but it looks like being a struggle!
